how does google search work

If you own a website, then it’s important to understand how Google search works. If you don’t know how your site is being ranked, then you won’t be able to improve your ranking and you will miss out on potential customers.

In this blog post, we will discuss the basics of how Google ranks websites and what they are looking for from the websites they rank.
Google uses a variety of factors to rank websites. The most important factor is the website’s content. Google wants to see high-quality, relevant content on your site.

So it will be important that the quality of your content for both your website pages and your blog are as high a standard as it can be, understanding how to write a blog post and page that converts will be vital.

Google also looks at how often your site is updated, the number of backlinks it has, and the overall user experience, including the speed of your website and how easy it is to navigate your way through the site.

If you want to improve your website’s ranking, then it is important to focus on all of these factors, and fix any SEO mistakes you may have already made

Knowing Where To Begin

You can start by ensuring that your content is high-quality and relevant, and by regularly updating your site with new content. You can also increase the number of backlinks to your site, and make sure that your website is easy to navigate.

It’s important to remember that Google makes updates and changes to its algorithm fairly often, so you need to keep up with the latest changes to ensure your website stays on track.

I’ll be completely honest with you, Google has hundreds of different ranking factors, and not even SEOs know what they are all (I’m not even sure Google knows what they are all) Let’s take a look at some key tips on how to improve your website’s ranking!

How Does Google Search Work

SEO Tips: How does Google rank websites?

  1. By looking at a website’s content.
  2. The quality, relevance, and frequency of updates.
  3. The number of backlinks to the site.
  4. The Internal and external linking structure of the website.
  5. User experience including website speed and ease of navigation.
  6. Does the site have broken links?
  7. Are the images optimised correctly?
  8. How easy is it to read the content of the site?
  9. How long do visitors stay on your website?
  10. How easily the device is to use on a mobile device.
Now, these are just some of the ranking factors. As I said there are hundreds but these are some of the main ones for you to focus on especially at the start of your SEO journey.

If you can optimise your website for these factors, you will be more likely to rank high in Google search.

SEO can be a long and sometimes difficult process, but if you can make your website the best it can be then you will be well on your way to success.

Content, Content, Content

One of the best ways to achieve SEO success and improve your rankings is to make sure you are updating your blog post as often as you can, I usually tell business owners if you can create one blog post a week then that will boost your SEO.

However, even if you can only manage one a month as long as its high-quality content (evergreen content is best if you are limited to how often you can update your content) then you will still see the benefit in your SEO performance and should start to see higher rankings.

In fact, according to simple marketing now, websites that have regularly updated blogs receive 55% more traffic than those that don’t.

Making sure your posts have a good keyword focus will be vitally important as well, you have to tell Google what it is that you want to rank for. If you can add video or audio content to your blog post then that will also be a boost.

You And Google Have The Same Customers. For Google one of the most important things is making sure their customer (the searcher) is happy with the search results, therefore they only want to offer their customer quality results that answer their query and provide a good user experience.

You want your customer to have a great experience on your website and for them to go on and become a paying customer, to do that you need to give your website visitors the best user experience that you can.

Google’s customer is the searcher and that searcher becomes your potential customers when they click on your site. So you share a customer and a goal. You both want that searcher/ web visitor to have the best experience they can.

So ensuring your website is easy to use, full of quality information, and answers the searcher’s pain points will ensure you and Google are in sync when it comes to ranking your site and meeting your customer needs.

Make sure your website has no broken links and that all your posts and pages are easily reached. Ensure each page has internal links and external links to relevant sources/pages and don’t forget to include calls to action and make it easy for your website visitors to become paying customers.

Keep up to date with the latest Google updates, and continue writing high-quality content that is relevant to your audience. And most importantly, never give up!
